Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Bremen Police Department Investigate Fraud Case

John McCloud

A suspect has been found in a fraud case investigated by both the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Bremen Police Department.

Police say employees from First Source Bank called the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Friday, January 27 shortly before 2 p.m. ET where a man reportedly attempted to cash a fraudulent check.  Marshall County units were made aware of the call.  At the same time, the Bremen Police Department indicated that officers were looking for the same man who was successful in cashing a fraudulent check at the First Source Bank in Bremen earlier in the day, according to police.

Officers were given a description of the man and that he may have gotten into a silver Chrysler 300 passenger car. While a positive identification was being investigated, it was learned that John McCloud had been arrested in Allen County.  He was positively identified as the suspect in a booking photo provided to officers, according to the report..

A case report was completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review.  As a result, an arrest warrant was obtained for John E. McCloud for counterfeiting/forgery as a Level 6 Felony.  Bond is set at $10,000 cash.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
