Work is being done to install a new gym floor at the Culver Community Middle/High School.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said that the old floor has been completely removed along with the bleachers. The new floor was delivered last week and the sub-floor was prepared for the installation of the new floor this week.
The Culver Community School Board previously approved a bid from Fosters for the Bio Channel floor, which is the same type of floor that was just removed, at a cost of $236,525.31. The cost will come from the bond money for construction projects already earmarked.
This will be the first new gym floor at the Culver Middle/High School since the original one was installed in 1968.
The school board also previously approved a Sourcewell bid from Lee Company for the bleachers that will cost around $780,400 after several discounts. Additionally, the board approved a bid for railings in the High School gym in the amount of $48,790 from the Lee Company.
All of the gym construction at the Culver Middle/High School is anticipated to be done in time for graduation in May. The Elementary School will also have a new gym floor when additional construction projects get underway this summer.
