Bourbon Town Council Approves Tax Abatement for Shells, Supports Project HOPE

BOURBON — The Bourbon Town Council held a Public Hearing during their regular March meeting regarding a Personal Property Tax Abatement request on the estimated capital investment of $5.8M on behalf of Shells Inc. Director of Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) Greg Hildebrand was present to explain the investment and to answer questions. The company is installing a 3D printer to print sand cores at a faster rate to satisfy consumer demand. The council approved the abatement; the total tax savings after seven years will total $133,586.

The Council also approved Resolution 2023-03 Opioid Money in support of Marshall County Project HOPE with the unrestricted and abated Opioid Settlement Funds for 2022 and 2023. That amount for both years totals $10,900 . That funding will also be used to support matching grant funding in the amount of $1 for $1 from the Family of Social Services Administration if approved. Project HOPE provides comprehensive services and coordinated access to opioid / substance use prevention, treatment and recovery resources at no-cost in Marshall County.

In other news the Council approved the 2023 mowing services contract with Hoffer Lawn Service in the amount of $16,285 for the continued care and keeping of the parks.

Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger was reappointed to the Marshall County Unsafe Building and Premises Board.
