PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson provided a Solar Project at the Wastewater Treatment Facility update to the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety – “We are producing electricity.” There were certain times when the solar unit was producing more energy than the facility was consuming. There was a small issue with fuses in one portion of it; which will be rectified by the manufacturer. Nonetheless, the unit is working well. “Everything is looking good. We’ve had some beautiful days to test it out. So far so good.”
In other news, the test well has been installed; water volume and quality are adequate. The new permanent well will be drilled late Spring or early Summer with a hopeful completion date this Fall. At that point, the existing well will be retired.
City crews have completed nearly 80 percent of the inspections on homes for lead service lines. Davidson reported few homes with lead coming in to the homes through the structure. He expects inspections to be complete in March at which point they can assemble the inventory, submit it to the state, and develop a strategic plan for replacement where needed.
