Two Peru residents were arrested Friday, February 10 after a traffic stop.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy witnessed an SUV traveling at a rate of 95 mph while traveling southbound on U.S. 31 near 12th Road at 12:50 a.m. ET. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated near 14C Road.
During the investigation, police say a Marshall County K9 Officer and K9 Diesel were called to assist at the scene where K9 Diesel reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers located paraphernalia that reportedly tested positive for cocaine, as well as marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia, according to the report.
The driver, William L. Biggs Jr. was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and reckless driving. Jamie D. Bledsoe, a passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Formal charges are pending review by the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
