A South Bend man was in Marshall County Court for a hearing Monday, February 20 when he later fled the courthouse.
Police say during the hearing, 31-year-old Devonte Gunn was sentenced to 60 days in the Marshall County Jail for contempt of court. Gunn then fled the courthouse, but was later apprehended with the assistance of the Plymouth Police Department, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department report.
He was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation and booked into the Marshall County Jail for the contempt of court case, as well as a preliminary misdemeanor charge of resisting law enforcement and a Level 5 Felony charge of escape.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
