A public information and strategy planning session is planned for Tuesday, February 28 for the Marshall County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Public input is encouraged during this session. The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan serves as a framework for development of hazard mitigation projects that will reduce the negative impacts of future disasters in the county’s communities. Some examples include building storm shelters, adding warning sirens, relocating or removing homes that have suffered repetitive flood damage, and fire protection enhancements.
A planning committee of community members has worked with Agility Recovery in reviewing and updating the plan for Marshall County and wants to hear from members of the county to add to the plan. The plan must be reviewed every five years to address mitigation projects. Once the plan is updated, it will be sent to FEMA for approval.
The draft plan can be viewed here.
The public input session is Tuesday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m. ET in the second floor meeting room (Room 203) in the Marshall County Building at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth. For more information or to provide a recommendation, contact Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery at 574-936-3740.
