A Rochester man was arrested Tuesday, January 17 after an investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
Marshall County Police say a report of a burglary and theft was received Saturday, December 31, 2022 at a storage unit on 11th Road east of U.S. 31. An investigation reportedly found 35-year-old Richard Devere Pritchett as the suspect in the case. Police attempted to find him at his residence in Rochester where stolen property was recovered, but he was not home at the time, according to the report.
Pritchett was located in Argos Tuesday, January 17 and when confronted by police he allegedly fled from officers in his vehicle. A pursuit reportedly began where Pritchett lead officers southbound on Michigan Road and into Fulton County and through the City of Rochester before traveling back northbound on U.S. 31. Police were successful with stop stick deployments and disabling Pritchett’s vehicle. He was taken into custody at the intersection of U.S. 31 and 13th Road in Marshall County.
Pritchett was transported to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of burglary, theft, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana. He is being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Argos Police Department, Indiana State Police, Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, and Bremen Police Department.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
