Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter presented the Key to the City to Melissa Christiansen during the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission meeting Tuesday night.
Melissa Christiansen served on the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission for 13 years as a non-voting member appointed by the Plymouth Community School Board. She served on the school board for four terms. She did not seek re-election in 2022.
Christiansen also worked with the United States Department of Agriculture for 37 years as a business program specialist in Rochester, Logansport, Plymouth, and Knox.
Reading from a proclamation, Mayor Senter said Christiansen has provided input and ideas in several successful accomplishments put forth by the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission during her service.
She plans to spend more time with grandkids in her retirement, and stay active as treasurer of the local Purdue Alumni Association, along with her membership in the Plymouth Rotary Club.
Christiansen said receiving the Key of the City was a great honor and she appreciated it very much. She added that it was an honor to serve with all of the Redevelopment Commission members.
