The Marshall County Election Board members were sworn into office during their first meeting of the year Friday, January 27.
The board is made up of one Democrat representative and one Republican representative, as well as the Marshall County Clerk.
Democrat Ralph “Rick” Huff and Republican Adam Lukenbill were administered the Oath of Office by Clerk Jenny Bennitt. The board reorganized, but agreed to keep the same officers as last year with Huff as president and Lukenbill as vice president. Bennitt serves as secretary of the board, by virtue of her office.
The board also issued fines for five people who submitted tardy campaign finance reports. Dr. Jim White and Matthew Sarber were fined $25 for submitting them a couple of hours after the deadline time, but on the deadline day. Nichole Walter, Friends of Bremen, and Jason Haines submitted reports the following day. The board agreed to fine them the statutory $50. If the fines are not paid within the allotted timeframe, the paperwork will be turned over to the county attorney for further action.
