The Culver Community School Board received an update on the bond project timeline last week.
The bond projects at the Culver Elementary School include a library renovation, handicap lift for the stage, repaving parking lots, redoing water lines, new boilers, tuckpointing in the masonry, and replacing the gym floor.
Tuckpointing will done at the Middle/High School, along with a FACS (Family and Consumer Science) room renovation, locker room renovation, restroom renovation, band and choir room renovations, gym floor replacement, and the installation of a ramp in the high school auditorium instead of a handicap lift. Electrical panels will be updated, and pick-up and drop-off in the back of the school building.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said bids for the projects are due Friday, January 27 with a recommendation to the board by SitelogIQ representatives at their meeting February 6, including all bidding information for each line item of the project.
Once a bid is approved, Shuman said the construction will move quickly.
“We anticipate starting in mid-March with the deconstruction of the locker rooms and gyms and bleachers in the high school and a rebuild of those before graduation,” explained Shuman. “We’ll move on to the Elementary School gym and band and choir with all of those happening in mid-May so that we can have everything in place by August 8.”
The school board previously agreed to take out two series of bonds in the amount of $12,050,000 to finance these updates to the school buildings with a slight increase to the tax rate.
