Bourbon Town Council Signs Contract with MCEDC

The Bourbon Town Council members approved the 2023 agreement with the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation last week.

The Agreement calls for $10,000 to be paid quarterly based on performance. Of that, $5,000 will be funded out of the General Fund and $5,000 will be funded by the Bourbon Redevelopment Commission – pending approval during their meeting scheduled for January 24.

The Agreement contained two parts; one that every municipality in Marshall County signs along with an Addendum addressing specific needs for Bourbon.

Goals for Bourbon include assistance with the development of property on 12th Road and assistance with other Economic Development matters including advertising for the town on the website.

According to Interim Director Greg Hildebrand, MCEDC has collaborated with CT Polymer to complete their State application this past week.

Hildebrand will also be meeting with Council members to discuss a $5.8 M Personal Property Tax Abatement; the party is also eligible for a Next Market Manufacturing Grant. Hildebrand informed the council they are working with the State on that endeavor.

Byers commented that the town has seen a lot of work coming out of the MCEDC office recently, which he appreciates.

McFarland complimented Hildebrand’s performance saying he is doing a good job and requested that he not lose sight of the small towns.
