Three Argos Community School Board members were sworn into office during the board’s first meeting of the year January 9.
Superintendent Ned Speicher explained that two members were re-elected and the voters chose one new member of the board in the November General Election. The board then appointed Pat Rensberger as president of the board, Chris O’Dell was retained as vice president, and Jennifer Hurford was retained as the board secretary. The other members of the five-member school board include Monte Peden and Karra Duff.
The board also took action to reappoint Kelli VanDerWeele as the corporation treasurer.
During action items during the meeting, Speicher said the board purchased land for an upcoming project.
Speicher commented, “We purchased some land from the Argos Park Board that we will be turning into additional parking and traffic flow improvements. That was for $18,400. It’s on the south side of our property – it butts up to our parking lots now.”
The project is expected to take place this summer.
