Fans visiting the Culver Community High School Gymnasium will soon have a better seating experience after the school board approved the purchase of new bleachers Monday night.
The school board approved a Sourcewell bid from Lee Company for the bleachers that will cost around $780,400 after several discounts. Superintendent Karen Shuman said the cost could be lowered another $40,000 if the maintenance department staff disassembles the bleachers. Shuman indicated there was some interest from the general public about acquiring some of the old boards from the current bleachers.
Shuman noted that the new bleachers will be ADA compliant so all visitors will have ease when attending events in the gymnasium.
The new gym floor is anticipated to be installed in the early spring, followed by the bleacher installation. It is the hope that the new bleachers are set before graduation.
