The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal accident that occurred in the overnight hours Sunday, November 13.
Marshall County Coroner John Grolich says a pick-up truck was traveling on U.S. 6 east of Kenilworth Road when the driver lost control and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle by an SUV. One of the occupants in the truck was ejected from the vehicle and thrown in the ditch, while another vehicle swerved off the roadway and struck the victim, according to the report.
Grolich stated the victim, 16-year-old Martin Bontrager of Topeka, Indiana, died of his injuries.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office were assisted at the scene by the LaPaz Fire Department, Union-North EMS, Tri-County EMS, Bremen Fire Department, Bremen Police Department, First Deputy Coroner Les Trump, and Deputy Coroner Ward Byers.
