Bourbon Town Council Approves Contract Amendment

The Bourbon Town Council approved an amendment last week with the Wessler Engineering contract which was a reduction in fees in the amount of $4,500. Those funds would have been fees accrued if the town had pursued the additional funding from Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for an upcoming water improvement project. The council previously voted to remain with State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan funding which nullified the need for the extra fees.

The project includes the rehabilitation of the two wells estimated at $230,000.  The council previously agreed to pursue a third well if bids come in favorable.  The new well construction is estimated at $450,000 and the construction of a water treatment plant is estimated at $3.5 million. A total project cost is estimated at $5.3 million.

Bourbon Town Council President Ward Byers said that a portion of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding has been set aside to fund the project in the amount of just under $200,000, in addition to the State Revolving Fund Loan funding.
