Marshall County to Update Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan

Marshall County officials are currently working on updating the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan for the next five years.

FEMA requires each unit of government to have a Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan approved by FEMA to be eligible to apply for Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grants.  The Plan serves as a framework for developing hazard mitigation projects that will reduce the negative impacts of future disasters in Marshall County communities.

Marshall County EMA Director Clyde Avery says examples of projects that have been completed by some communities include building storm shelters, adding warning sirens, relocating or removing homes that have suffered repetitive flood damage, and fire protection enhancements.

A kick-off meeting to begin the Plan update process will be facilitated by BOLDplanning.  The meeting is set for Tuesday, October 25 at 10 a.m. ET in Room 207 in the Marshall County Building at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth.
