Five Area High School Marching Bands Advance to ISSMA Semi-State Competition

Five area high school marching bands have earned their way to participate at the ISSMA Open Class Semi-State Marching Band Festival.

A total of 80 high schools from the state have been selected to perform at three different Central Indiana schools on Saturday, October 29. Ben Davis High School, Pike High School, Decatur Central High School and Franklin Community High School are the locations for this year’s semi-state competition.  

Plymouth High School is scheduled to perform at 2 p.m. at Pike High School. John Glenn will travel to Decatur Central High School to perform at 2 p.m. Knox High School will also be performing at Decatur Central. They are scheduled to take the field at 6:00 p.m. ET. 

LaVille High School and Bremen High School will both be traveling to Franklin Community High School to perform. LaVille is scheduled at 4:15 p.m. while Bremen is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. ET.

These bands qualified for Semi-State status by being one of the top-scoring bands in their enrollment category at their Open Class Regional site on October 15th. The Open Class Semi-State Festival, administered by ISSMA, will determine the ten bands that will represent each class at the 49th Indiana State Marching Band Finals to be held on Saturday, November 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Admission for the Semi-State event is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and preschoolers.
