Bremen Town Council Holds Public Hearing on Amended Budget

The Bremen Town Council members held a public hearing Tuesday afternoon to take comments on the amended 2023 budget.

The Bremen Town Council is repeating the budget process in an effort to realize additional levy in the amount of about $100,000, under the recommendation from the Department of Local Government Finance, according to Bremen Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer.

The estimated Civil Max Levy is $3,031,505. With that, some of the budget numbers have changed.

According to the amended submission on the Indiana Gateway website, some of the major funds include the General Fund estimated at just over $3 million, Rainy Day at $150,000, Local Road and Street at almost $80,000, Motor Vehicle Highway at almost $932,000, Emergency Ambulance/Med Services – Fire at $366,000, Park and Recreation at $383,000, Cemetery at $217,000, Cumulative Capital Improvement at about $32,000, Cumulative Capital Development at $200,000, Redevelopment at $1.6 million, and American Rescue Plan Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund at $506,000, among other funds.

The all-funds total budget is $7,845,597.

There were no comments made by the public.

The budget is anticipated to be adopted by the council Tuesday, November 1 at 4:30 p.m. ET at the Bremen Town Hall.
