Bourbon Town Council Awards New Trash Contract

The Bourbon Town Council members awarded a new three-year trash and recycling contract in a special meeting Tuesday, October 18.

According to Bourbon Town Council President Ward Byers, proposals were opened during the regular council meeting on Tuesday, October 11.

Proposals were received by Apex of North Judson, Republic Services, GFL Environmental of Michigan, and Borden Waste Away of Elkhart.  Byers indicated that GFL Environmental failed to meet proposal specifications so the company’s submission was not considered.

Borden Waste Away presented the lowest cost with $15.83 for the first year of the contract, $16.61 for the second year, and $17.45 for the third year.

The Bourbon Town Council awarded the contract to Borden Waste Away of Elkhart.  Byers noted that Bourbon residents will see a $.56 increase per month in the first year.
