The Argos Community School Board members opened a public hearing last week regarding a construction lease amendment.
Superintendent Ned Speicher explained that it deals with the next three construction projects. The first project is one that is currently underway. It involves the cafeteria addition and cafeteria remodeling work. It also includes an addition due to overcrowding in the Elementary School. A new music room will be built, along with an art room and a testing room. Remodeling of the Band room, auditorium and high school hallway is also a part of the first project.
“Project two is site development,” stated Speicher. “We’re fixing some drainage problems around our soccer stadium and our parking lots. We’re going to repair and replace some fencing, and then we’re going to improve traffic flow, provide additional parking and repave some of our parking lots. Project three will be HVAC units – heating and air conditioning – we’re going to replace those that are aging and need to be replaced.”
Speicher noted that the projects will not affect the current tax rate as the corporation will be paying off some debt.
There were no comments presented by the public and the hearing was closed.
Several resolutions and documents presented by attorneys and bond counsel pertaining to the construction projects were approved during the regular meeting
Speicher said the projects will be scheduled as materials become available.
