BOURBON — Town of Bourbon Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger updated the Bourbon Town Council that she has sent out Trash/Recycling proposals to six different companies. Bids will be due by October 7. Bid proposals will then be opened during the October Town Council meeting.

She reported to the council that the recycling element has raised questions due to cost.

She also received inquiries regarding a recycling center as opposed to door-to-door recycling.

Several of the companies simply do not offer recycling services.

Members of the council discussed complications with recycling due to non-compliance with standards.

Berger has heard feedback from residents that they have had to use their recycling bins for normal trash disposal due to the inconsistent services of the current provider to pick up their trash on a regular basis.

In other news, Berger indicated that new Deputy Clerk Maci Helton is doing well in her new position which she started on September 6.

Additionally, Trick or Treat for the Town of Bourbon will be Monday, October 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Budget Adoption for 2023 will be held on Tuesday, September 27 at 6 p.m. at the Bourbon Town Hall.
