Plymouth Community School Corporation hears Alternative Education Report 2021-2022, Plymouth Achievement Academy at Lincoln Education Center

Katie Duran and Craig Hopple presented the Alternative Education Report for 2021-2022 to the Plymouth Community School Corporation Tuesday evening.

The program is located at the Lincoln Education Center and is now being called the Plymouth Achievement Academy. Phyllis Gault has joined the team for the Junior High Program.

The goal of the program is to take a comprehensive approach to helping each student achieve their educational and career goals.

At the High School level, students are offered the option of three hour morning or afternoon sessions. At the Junior High level, students are offered the option of a three hour morning session. Night School is also offered along with homework help and credit recovery.

Students are offered prescriptive courses through Edmentum that aligns with traditional classes at Plymouth High School. Core courses include Science, Math, Social Studies, and Language Arts.

Students are offered one-on-one help, opportunities to test again if needed, narrated lessons including a translator for 20 different languages, guided notes for each lesson, and small class sizes at a 1:15 ratio.

A total of 78 students were served in 2021-22; three Freshman, 15 Sophomores, 29 Juniors, and 41 Seniors. Ten students enrolled in Night School. Both enrollment numbers have increased.

The goal for the program is a student graduation rate of 90% or better; the team reached 83% in 2021-22.

The goal for the program was to see an improvement in the average daily attendance rate, but 2021-22 dropped to 72% from 81%.
