The Indiana Department of Education awarded up to $4.21 million to schools across the state to celebrate their progress and achievement in supporting student excellence and growth.
An Educational Excellence Awards gala was held Friday night in Indianapolis where nearly 400 educators and guests around the state attended the event to be recognized.
Educator Emily Batton from North Liberty Elementary School was named the Excellence in Leading and Learning Award winner and received $5,000. This award recognizes the teacher who has demonstrated continuous learning by earning the most professional growth points through the Indiana Learning Lab since the Lab’s launch last year.
Batton’s award was funded by the 2022 College Football Playoff Indianapolis Host Committee, while other school awards were funded through the state’s federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) grant.
