The Plymouth Fire Department has a new full-time firefighter on its roster.
Fire Chief Steve Holm introduced Justyn Wade to those attending Monday night’s Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
“Justyn actually started with us on August 28 which was his first full-time shift,” said Chief Holm. “He’s been a volunteer with us for a while now and came to us as a full-time person from Southwest Fire in South Bend. We’re happy to have him here.”
Justyn Wade was sworn into service during the meeting by Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski. Wade’s wife, Kayla, was present to pin the badge on his uniform.
Chief Holm also informed the board that there was a lot of activity during the Blueberry Festival.
“Out at the park, we did a total of 48 refusals. We made contact with people that called for medical and we were able to sign them off – either treat them there and sign off or found out they really didn’t need the assistance. There were eight transports of people who were actually taken out of the park and to the hospital. A few of them were taken over by Tri-County Ambulance Service for us.”
Paramedics worked 35 hours at the park and there were EMTs from the Plymouth Fire Department who also worked during the Blueberry Festival. Other units assisted with coverage with EMTs including Union-North Ambulance in LaPaz and Lakeville, and Tippecanoe.
