Work on Community Crossings Matching Grant projects and additional paving projects has begun in several areas in Marshall County.
Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters said once reclaiming is complete, the base will be laid down and then Milestone Contractors North crews will start on the surface. The order will be 12th Road from North Michigan to Maple, Pear from 14B to 18B, Thorn Road from State Road 17 to railroad tracks, Sycamore from 9th to U.S. 30, Union from 9C to 10B, Tamarack from U.S. 6 to County Line Road, and 1st from Tamarack to town limits.
Beginning August 22, paving will begin with the county’s road program.
The commissioners asked about mowing right-of-ways and Peters said crews are out working to take care of tall grass and vegetation. With the recent rains, the growth took off and Peters said he was late in calling the contractors, but they are out now working on improving the right-of-ways in the county to clean up the areas and create better sight for drivers.
