Autism Communication Boards will be provided at no cost to emergency responders throughout Marshall County thanks to a partnership between Marshall County Community Corrections and Chileda.
Chileda is a company that offers treatment options and support for autism, and company officials are distributing Autism Communication Boards to law enforcement, fire and EMS throughout Marshall County.
Through the use of graphics and visuals, Communication Boards can help bridge the communication gap between non-speaking or minimal speaking individuals and their caregivers, teachers, peers, and first responders. The photos, symbols or illustrations can be pointed at to communicate levels of pain, medical issues, or other issues people have in order to get information to first responders.
