The John Glenn School Board reviewed the Teacher Appreciation Grant policy when they met last week.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell said the action is an annual requirement set forth by the state which deals with a grant for highly effective and effective teachers.
“That is additional monies beyond the student tuition money that we receive,” explained Winchell. “When it first came out there had to be difference of a minimum of one dollar between highly effective and effective. The state has now changed that rule that there has to be a minimum of a twenty-five percent difference between a highly effective grant and an effective grant.”
Winchell added that the grant amount varies every year, but last school year it was about $500 for a highly effective teacher and about $400 for an effective teacher.
The board members approved the policy as presented.
Additionally, the board approved a new business accounting software at a cost of $51,035 as it has been a very long time since the software has been updated.
The board also approved transfer students. The total number of transfer students for this school year so far is 641.
