Argos Community School Board Approves Purchase of Additional Buses, Enrollment Increasing

The Argos Community School Board approved the purchase of two more buses during their meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Ned Speicher said the buses were purchased from other school corporations on lease.

Speicher stated, “We bought a white bus at a cost of $14,995 and a 66-passenger yellow bus for $74,911.  Our enrollment continues to grow so we needed a couple of extra buses!”

As far as enrollment numbers at the beginning of the school year, Speicher said the corporation is still sorting out students, but it has increased this year.

“I would have that more accurately on the count day in September, but we do know we’re up a significant number of kids. If I had to put a number on it, it would be probably 50 to 100 students.”

The official student count day is September 16.
