The Triton School Board members approved the hire of a new staff and resource officer at their meeting last week, according to Superintendent Jeremy Riffle.
“We’re excited to welcome Steve Watkins as a Triton School Corporation student and staff resource officer,” said Riffle. “That position will be seven-and-a-half hours a day, five days a week, 180 days for the school year. We’re really excited to have one individual that will be building relationships with our kids and doing his best to help us keep our staff and students safe.”
The board also approved a bus driver pay increase for cleaning buses, as well as the mileage reimbursement rate increase that reflects the change to the federal rate at 62.5 cents per mile. It was around 48 cents.
