City of Plymouth Human Resources Manager Jennifer Klingerman presented two new job descriptions for consideration by the Plymouth Board of Works Monday night.
Presenting on behalf of Fire Chief Steve Holm, Klingerman said a civilian firefighter first class job description was proposed which addresses a change in pension.
Klingerman said, “Chief Holm has someone who would love to start working for the city tomorrow, but unfortunately he does not qualify for the 77 Fund. So, he’s actually creating this position in hopes that this person will want to continue their employment with the City of Plymouth since he’s short three positions.”
She also proposed a job description for a fire inspector.
“Rod Miller, who is the current fire inspector, is maxed out of the pension as of this year. He would like to continue working for the city so we have created the job description. It’s exactly the same except we’re transitioning the position to the regular PERF instead of the 77 Fund.”
The board members unanimously approved both requests.
A salary ordinance amendment that points to those changes was heard on first reading during the Plymouth City Council meeting Monday night. The council will consider additional readings at the next meeting Monday, August 8.
