The Marshall County Health Department recently received a grant from the Indiana Department of Health for lead screening and testing program.
The grant is for $10,257.68 and the funding will be used to establish a lead screening/testing program as part of the state’s Health Issues and Challenges program. The program was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2021 with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act.
The Marshall County Health Department will offer lead screening/testing effective immediately. Health officials say children should be tested for lead at age 1 and again at age 2. All children through age 7 should be screened for lead exposure risk and tested if needed.
