A LaPaz woman was arrested Wednesday, July 6 following an accident at Michigan Road and 1st Road in LaPaz.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the scene of the two vehicle accident just before 10 p.m. ET. Police say a red Dodge Caravan driven by Lainie Rensberger pulled out onto Michigan Road and into the path of a red Buick passenger car. While at the scene, officers reportedly found probable cause for an operating while intoxicated investigation.
Police say Renberger was transported to the Plymouth hospital to be treated for injuries and a chemical test was conducted.
A certified chemical test revealed that Rensberger had a blood alcohol content that was more than twice the legal limit, according to the report.
Rensberger was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail. She faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, operating a vehicle with an ACE of .15 or more, and resisting law enforcement.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the LaPaz Fire Department and LaPaz EMS.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
