Marshall County Treasurer Angie Birchmeier announced this week that corrected property tax statements for the 011 Polk Township taxing district will be arriving in the mail to those taxpayers this week with a due date of November 10, 2022.
The Department of Local Government Finance was informed of an error in La Porte County which affected Marshall County with those taxpayers who are in the John Glenn School Corporation district. Birchmeier said Marshall County’s data was correct, but the Department of Local Government Finance determined that the property tax liability in the Polk Township taxing district would be required to be recalculated “to ensure fair and equitable property taxation for all taxpayers residing in the cross-county unit”.
Payments can be made Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET in the Treasurer’s Office in the Marshall County Building at 112 W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth. Payments may also be mailed or paid online at www.co.marshall.in.us. Locked drop boxes are located at the north and south entrances of the Marshall County Building to leave payments for pickup by staff members.
