Motorists and pedestrians will see a change in the downtown Plymouth area in August as the Complete Streets Committee conducts another tactical urbanism project.
Committee representative Allie Shook presented the information to the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members last week which will include curb extensions at the intersection of Michigan Street and Garro Street.
“It will provide an opportunity for easier crossing for all of our pedestrians, bikers and folks that are visiting our downtown this summer,” Shook said.
The committee will also seek permission from INDOT to do the project as Michigan Street is a state highway.
The board approved the request with a unanimous vote.
Shook and Plymouth Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt also discussed a future goal to install a crosswalk near Serenity Place on Jefferson St. and limit the speed limit to enable safer crossing, which was also approved.
