Ken Jones from Engineering Firm Jones Petrie and Rafinski updated the Bremen Town Council members Monday night on the State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan process for the upcoming construction of a new Bremen Wastewater Treatment Facility.
He said Bremen is on the SRF priority list in the 65th position. He said current rates did not afford the town a higher ranking, but now the town is waiting to hear from the USDA to see if the town will be awarded funding for the estimated $16.3 million project. Jones said the announcement should come down in August and it will be at that time the council will make a decision on which route to go concerning funding.
If the council decides to move forward with the SRF loan, efforts would be made to step up the project of the interceptor sewer as it a long-term investment. The design would be done by the beginning of September with bids taken in mid-winter.
Jones said he will update the council as he knows more about the decision made by the USDA.
The new plant would include a new maintenance building, control, chemical feed and blower building, and a sludge storage structure. The project also includes a new effluent outlet to the Yellow River, and the reconstruction of the town’s interceptor sewer through the wetland area and the manufactured home park.
