Argos Community School Board members were updated on the cafeteria project when they met earlier this week.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said asbestos abatement has been done on the floor in the cafeteria and the board looks forward to the construction of the addition and renovation of the space.
“That’s just the beginning – we abated the asbestos,” stated Speicher. “The project is going to be underway the rest of this summer and this fall. We will continue to use the existing cafeteria, but the addition will be built. Sometime in the future we’ll connect it and then remodel and have an enlarged cafeteria that more reflects our needs with our growing enrollment.”
Speicher also noted that there a few positions left to fill before the start of school, but everyone is getting ready for another successful year. The first student day of school is Tuesday, August 9.
