Bridge deck work is planned on U.S. 6 near Bremen on or after Tuesday, July 5.
Indiana Department of Transportation officials say Superior Construction Company will close the bridge on U.S. 6 between Miami Trail and State Road 331 for approximately two weeks for a bridge deck overlay project.
The detour will follow State Road 331 and State Road 106.
At the same time, Jackson Road over U.S. 31 and U.S. 6 over the Yellow River in St. Joseph County will be closed between Main Street and St. Joseph Street on or after Tuesday, July 5 for bridge work.
Additionally, a seal coating operation for U.S. 6 between State Road 931 and State Road 23 is planned beginning on or after Tuesday, July 5. INDOT officials believe the work will take three days, depending on weather. The official detour will follow U.S. 31, State Road 4 and State Road 23.
During a seal coating operation, the existing pavement is coated with liquid asphalt, which seals cracks and provides waterproof protection. Aggregate is applied over the seal coat. Once the seal coat has cured, crews will sweep the highway clear of loose stone, apply a fog seal surface coat and paint pavement markings.
INDOT reminds drivers to travel with caution in areas of road construction and drive distraction free.
