Jorge Crowder

A Nappanee man was arrested following an investigation into a May 16 incident in Marshall County.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call that day just before 2:30 p.m. ET about a car accident in the area of Michigan Road and 4A Road involving a passenger car and a pickup truck pulling a trailer.  The male driver of the pickup truck reportedly fled the scene on foot and was not located. Police say the truck was stolen out of Nappanee and the trailer stolen out of Goshen.

An investigation reportedly found 35-year-old Jorge Crowder of Nappanee as a suspect in the thefts. In a joint effort along with Nappanee Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department police say Crowder was located in Elkhart on May 31 and taken to the Elkhart County Jail.  Crowder was transferred to the Marshall County Jail this week on charges of theft, vehicle theft with a prior conviction, and leaving the scene of an accident. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
