A call to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department about a possible impaired driver Saturday night resulted in an arrest.
Police say a caller reported the driver all over the roadway on U.S. 31 by Veteran’s Parkway around 9:30 p.m. ET. Marshall County Sheriff’s Department officers were able to catch up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 31 near 19th Road.
The driver, identified as Robert Howell of Lafayette, was reportedly found to under the influence of alcohol at the time of the traffic stop. Howell was also found to be operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, according to the report.
Howell was taken to the Marshall County Jail and processed on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, and operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
