The John Glenn School Board members reviewed requests last week to replace several pieces of equipment in the corporation’s kitchen spaces.
The North Liberty Elementary School will get a new dishwasher in the amount of $61,254.72. Food Services Director Glenda Smith said the replacement was expected to be done last year, but it was postponed. She said the dishwasher has been a fixture of the school for a very long time and a lot of money has been spent to repair it, and that is getting costly.
Superintendent Christopher Winchell noted that the corporation was awarded an Indiana Department of Education reimbursable grant in the amount of $30,000 to buy this piece of equipment.
The board unanimously approved the purchase.
Additionally, the board unanimously approved the expenditure of $144,901.24 to purchase milk coolers, a range, refrigerators, holding/proofing cabinet, pass-thru heating cabinet, and convection ovens to be installed in the various corporation kitchens. Winchell said it is in the facilities plan to replace outdated equipment and assist with efficiency in the Food Services Department.
The equipment will be purchased from C&T Design and Equipment Co.
