The Bremen Town Council members held a public hearing Monday, June 13 on an ordinance regarding the proposed changes to water rates and charges to take effect July 1, 2022.
Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer previously explained that the ordinance reviews the increase in charges plus the repeal of the Utility Receipts Tax which adjusts the second phase increase in water rates.
The first 3,000 gallons used is currently $4.89 and it will increase to $5.35 July 1. The next 4,000 gallons used would go from $4.38 to $4.80.
The minimum charge per month for an average residential 5/8” – 3/4” meter would go from $14.70 to $16.05. Average residential fire protection services will increase from $5.15 to $5.65 and sprinkling rates will also go up July 1.
After-hour service charges for non-emergencies including Saturdays will be $70 minimum for the first two hours and an additional $35 per hour per employee after that. The rate for Sundays and holidays will be $90 minimum for the first two hours and $45 per hour per employee after that.
There were no public comments.
The first reading was approved during their last meeting in May. The council members unanimously approved the second and third readings following the public hearing, thus adopting the ordinance.
