Many of the usual end-of-the-year activities are happening now for local students, especially for high school seniors. John Glenn School Superintendent Christopher Winchell commented to the school board last week on the success of the recent Scholarship/Senior Awards night at the high school.
He noted that about $100,000 in local scholarships was distributed last week.
“That did not include any monies coming from the universities,” commented Winchell. “There was then an additional $50,000 just from Falloween. If you were on the team, you may remember when we first got Falloween started I think maybe that first year we gave $7,000 or $8,000 in scholarships. To think that’s bloomed all the way to $50,000 is just wonderful.”
The Falloween event is typically held in September as a way to gather funds for scholarships for students.
Graduation at John Glenn High School is Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. ET and will be held outside. The ceremony will be moved to the gym if there is inclement weather.
