Culver Community School Superintendent Karen Shuman informed the school board members last week that the Culver Redevelopment Commission approved money to help the Youth League with improvements to the baseball diamond.
She said the CRC gave $10,000 for mostly lighting and fencing and leveling the grounds. The Youth League is seeking additional funds to assist with dugout improvements and other projects.
Additionally, Shuman asked for the board’s approval for proposed summer school programs for this year.
“We offered our teachers to create a program in the summer where they would be paid $1,500 a week for eight or more students, as long as they have academic-aligned need for the program,” said Shuman. There’s also Band and Ag which are always summer programs in place there.”
Some classes proposed include Finance, Literacy, Reading, IREAD, Math, Middle School FoodTruck, High School Entrepreneurial, Language Arts, and others.
The board approved the proposed programs as presented.
