The January unemployment rate was released this week which showed an increase in unemployment in the tri-county area.
Marshall County’s rate in January was 1.9 percent compared to 0.9 percent in December, Starke County’s unemployment rate was 3.3 percent in January compared to 1.6 percent in December, and Pulaski County’s unemployment rate was 2.3 percent in January compared to 1.2 percent in December.
Indiana’s unemployment rate fell from 2.7 percent in December to 2.4 percent in January.
Less people are employed as Marshall County, Starke County and Pulaski County saw a decrease in residents working.
February’s unemployment report should be released next week.
