A Fort Wayne man was arrested Saturday afternoon on suspicion of impaired driving.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a 911 call around 4:45 p.m. ET about a driver unable to maintain lane control and speed in the area of U.S. 30 and Union Road. A license plate number and a description of the vehicle were given to officers and the vehicle was spotted at the Pilot Truck Stop in Plymouth, according to the report.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Louis L.J. Banks of Fort Wayne, went through Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, according to the report. He reportedly refused a chemical test after the field sobriety testing. Police say a search warrant for a chemical test was applied for and granted. After the chemical test was performed, it was found that Banks was three times the legal limit.
A juvenile in the vehicle was released to a family member.
Banks was arrested and taken to the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated .15% or higher, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated refusal, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, possession of paraphernalia, and knowingly and intentionally operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license.
He was later released from jail after posting a cash bond.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
