The Argos Community School Board members opened a public hearing Monday night to take comments on upcoming building projects.
Superintendent Ned Speicher said several updates are planned.
“We’ll be looking at increasing the size of our cafeteria seating area, looking at some heating and ventilation needs and some air handlers, and doing some remodeling in our hallways and some new lockers,” said Speicher.
Speicher added that the architect and the financial advisor were present to provide information to those in attendance. Some of the corporation’s debt has been paid off so the cost of the project will have no impact on taxes.
Speicher said several residents were in attendance who spoke during the public hearing who commented that they support the proposed projects.
After the public hearing was closed, the board members took action to approve a project resolution, a resolution determining the need for the project, a lease resolution, a resolution to modify the building corporation to allow for the expansion, and a reimbursement resolution.
Speicher indicated that the project will begin in late May, but the closing timeline is open as the corporation will need to wait for certain pieces of equipment to be manufactured and delivered and it could take some time for the work to be done.
