Two Granger Residents Arrested Following Marshall County Accident

Two Granger residents were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following an accident in the area of U.S. 6 and Lilac Road in Marshall County in the overnight hours Sunday.

Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies were notified of a roll over crash at approximately 2:50 a.m. ET near the intersection of U.S. 6 and Lilac Road.  Officers conducted an investigation where they determined that alcohol was a contributing factor of the single vehicle crash, according to the report. 

The driver, 37-year-old Shantelle Burress, was reportedly found to be the only occupant of the car and she was arrested on a preliminary misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person. 

During the investigation, 31-year-old James Burress arrived to check on his wife and officers allegedly found him to be in an intoxicated state and further investigation was conducted.  James Burress was arrested on a preliminary misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person. 

They were booked into the Marshall County Jail and later posted a $1,505 cash bond. 

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
