The Marshall County Point in Time count was held last month at the Bread of Life Community Food Pantry and the Marshall County Neighborhood Center.
This endeavor was a chance to conduct a survey to collect data on homelessness and housing insecurities in Marshall County.
Officials say cold weather played a part in the low participation of this event.
The Marshall County survey asks respondents to rate on scale of 1-5 (1 being ‘least secure’ and 5 being ‘most secure’) how secure their current housing situation is. Questions include how many times an individual has ever been homeless, the biggest barriers they face in staying securely housed and other factors.
Out of 16 surveys, ten were rated as a five while one was rated at one.
The survey found one eligible homeless person per the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority PIT count survey. Others said they move from place to place, stay at the motels on the northside of Plymouth, they stay with friends or family, and rely on churches and food pantries to get by.
