The last of the candidate filings for the 2022 May Primary Election took place on Monday in the Marshall County Clerk’s Office. The voters will have some work to do in May.
Voters will need to select 14 State Convention Delegates on the Republican ticket out of 25 candidates who have filed. The candidates include Debbie Beck, Jesse Bohannon, E. Nelson Chipman, Jr., Kip D. Cook, Charles Dault, Adam Faulstitch, Lynn M. Fitzpatrick, Julie A. Fox, Jack L. Garner, Paul G. Georgen, Sharon Gilles, Timothy P. Harman, David R. Holmes, Jan Holmes, Bryan J. Howard, Deborah Carmean-Johnson, Paul Levett, Richard J. Lokun II, Griffin Nate, N. Ruth Nelson, Shawn Peterson, Creighton J. Prawat, Sam Schlosser, Deborah VanDeMark, and Laura Ann-Vervynckt.
Another race on the Primary ballot will be for Marshall County Commissioner District 1. Incumbent Stan Klotz is challenged by Trend U. Weldy.
All of the Marshall County Council District races are contested in the May Primary Election. Marshall County Council District 1 candidates are Republicans Will Patterson and Incumbent Heath Thornton; Council District 2 candidates are Incumbent Mandy Campbell and Deborah M. Johnson; Council District 3 candidates are Nicole Cox and Incumbent Jon VanVactor; and Council District 4 candidates are Adam Faulstitch and Incumbent Steven Harper.
Two Republican candidates will face off for Marshall County Sheriff. Incumbent Matthew Hassel will meet Jeff Wojcik on the ballot in the Primary Election.
Three Republican candidates have filed for two available seats on the Argos Town Council including Ed Barcus, Bob Byers and Incumbent Erica L. Partin.
Two Republican candidates have filed for Polk Township Trustee. They include Jerry L. .Lamb and Michael C. Norris.
Two Republican candidates have filed for Tippecanoe Township Trustee. They include Baylee McIntire and Incumbent Matthew D. Pitney.
Two Democrat candidates will run to face Incumbent Republican Jackie Walorski in the November General Election for U.S. Representative, Second District. Democrats Stephen Kurant and Paul D. Steury will be on the Primary ballot in May. Incumbent Indiana Senator Todd Young will face Danny Niederberger on the Republican ticket for that seat, while Democrats Haneefah Khaaliq, Valerie McCray and Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. will be on the Primary ballot for Indiana Senator.
